Plural Nouns and Vicious Circles:

An Installation by William S. Stone

William Stones highly charged new installation features six new works on themes relating to the American (Bush) government. The exhibition is both an intellectual and emotional response to our current political climate. Central to StoneŐs methodology are his sharp elaborations on metaphors, puns and language as well as a refreshing take on the use of ready-mades as a conceptual device.  The pieces will consist of objects as diverse as:  painting, videos, speakers, oil barrels, clocks, and plumbing fixtures.  The titles of the work are an integral part of each piece: Positional Asphyxiation, Plural Nounsss, Vicious Circles.  Instant Johns, Participatory Democracy, War Drums and Bush Booth.

STATEMENT:

OCEANS DISEASES and FIREFIGHTERS

My work has always been cool, gray and surreal.

The humor always wry, but suddenly, given the times,                                                        I AM SEEING RED

and for the first time have added color (red and blue)

to this obviously political, palette.

I never like to say IT is all about oil. ItŐs much deeper and more complex than that, oil is the just the lubricant, but oil is a pretty dramatic symbol. So I say, if they want oil, GIVE THEM OIL

ItŐs a HEAVY HANDED show because this is a time that demands a HEAVY HAND

artMoving commissioned gallery doors by John Giglio. Part of the "Infinite Architecture" series, the massive doors assign a proactive role to portals; windows, doors, and other structures that are usually taken for granted. Featuring a floating door-within-a-door, artMoving's new doors suggest the transient sensation of something delicately alive, despite its size. The project will is a permanent installation.
